The new Assassin’s Creed Trailer is out and it’s interesting to say the least. I have been very excited to see this game come along the way it has. Not only are the graphics very nice and detailed but the features and sandbox style of environment gives this game a bang that other games lack. With that said enjoy the latest trailer.
SABOTEUR is set in the time of World War II. I know what your thinking. Jeez, not another WWII shooter. Don’t worry you little heart about that; SABOTEUR is a stealth action game from 3rd person view and might I add has masterful visual design. The role you play in SABOTEUR is very different than most WWII games we have seen since most of them just cast you as a soldier giving no real life or connection to your character.
You play as a Irishmen named Sean that is seeking to get revenge on a group of Nazis that killed his friends. The fact that he is not a soldier is felt through the raw and rough around the edge style of doing things. So since Sean is not a soldier you would expect not to play like one; this is somewhat refreshing that a developer took this into account. However, if you think Sean is a wuss just because he is not a soldier then you are wrong…dead wrong. Also Sean may help the Allies from time to time if their objectives and his match up but don’t think that Sean actually give a crap about that because he doesn’t. Sean is out for revenge!
One of the more interesting concepts to the game is the “Will to Fight” factor. When Nazis occupy certain areas of the environment the gameplay in that area is in black and white then as you loosen or destroy the Nazi occupation it slowly turns to color to reflect the life of the environment. This type of color mechanic gives the game a nice cinematic look to it. Also, SABOTEUR keeps the gameplay interesting with the different ways to stealth such as blending in crowds, improvising situations, and misdirection. This game is definitely on my watch list and is scheduled for release sometime in 2008. Keep your eyes on this one.
There is also a good interview with the guys from Pandemic Studios on Gamespot that is worth watching. Click here to watch interview.

A review on 9Dragons an mmorpg based on martial arts which just entered open beta and is free to download, free to play. This was developed by Acclaim and has U.S. and European servers.
It’s going to get really interesting in the multiplayer pc gaming world when Unreal Tournament 3 and Crysis are competing with each other. Video card manufacturers are loving it I’m sure since these games will demand a lot of power. They’ll look great on the screen though.
Eternal Silence is a futuristic first person shooter, consisting of both ground combat and aerial combat. Eternal Silence offers you the chance to become a captain of your own ship, you give the commands that could make or break your team’s battle. You could also become a pilot engaging in some hardcore dogfights. Paul said “I was very impressed by the level of creativity and imagination that was used during creation!”
Eternal Silence recently celebrated receiving the “Best Multiplayer FPS Half-Life 2 Mod” by The 2007 Independent Games Festival, www.igf.com. The game will be available for multi-player online gaming only, so you can count on some fierce and intense multi player Sci-Fi game play.
This mod for Half-Life 2 looks very well done, and has a good community following. Worth checking out if you are in the search for a new game to play.
Gamecron alerted me to the fact that 9Dragons, a free mmorpg, has entered open beta. There was a lot of controversy over the new PvP system, but it has since been changed back to the old system (all in 24 hours). This is one of Acclaim’s first big pc game titles in a while, and with the way they are truly listening to the community, I hope it does well. The Gamecron story comes with a few screenshots also.
I’ll have to say that learning how to program and design for computer games is a lot tougher than it sounds. I dabbled in it a few years ago with OpenGL programming, but didn’t manage to do more than the simple stuff. While these college courses probably attempt to teach you all of that and more, creating pc games is getting easier and easier through tools. It’s much easier to make mods to existing games, and they even have tools now to create entire role-playing games. I’m guessing that soon tools will be released so that the “average” geek could create his own game experience and release it to the public, basically becoming the game masters of the D&D days.
